The ParkCityTownhome is equipped with IBM ThinkPad Laptop computer with a high speed Internet connection. The computer has a 900Mhz Pentium III processor, 256K RAM, 20Gig HD, a 14.1" LCD and a CD/RW DVD. Please see more informtion about this Model T22. The laptop is locked into a Thinkpad Dock that has a 3.5" floppy, extra USB ports and additional features. The laptop is attached to an HP OfficeJet, providing a great deal of functionality.
The operating system on the laptop consists of MS Windows 2000 Pro. Software includes MS Internet Explorer, Media Player, Word, Excel, Streets, Encarta; Adobe Photo and Reader; Norton AntiVirus and other programs. Besides allowing you to access the Internet and send / retrieve e-mail, you have the ability to listen to music, play videos, even download photos and send them to friends / family while still on your vacation.
There are some instructions that should be on top of the laptop that are important to its operation. Because the laptop battery only holds a short charge, the laptop needs to stay in the docking station and is locked in place. Please note, any attempt to remove the laptop from the docking station will result in damage. The laptop should be turned on by pressing the upper right button on the docking station. Please be sure all cables and cords are connected, including the power cord, mouse, printer, etc. If the computer is not being used it should be turned off. If the laptop is inactive for about 45-minutes, it will go into a sleep mode. To turn it back on, you must press down on the start button on top of the keyboard for a few seconds. A window will appear that asks for a password, but leave it blank and just select OK. The computer should turn on again.
If some buttons are inadvertently touched, or if a pop-up screen is improperly addressed, it may affect the laptops operation. For instance, if the screen is completely blank, you may need to hold down the Fn key and select a function key with a monitor to make the LCD active again. Norton antivirus is installed and may at times interrupt your use of a program. You may be required to select a Norton icon on the bottom of the screen and select "Finish" after the program detects any viruses.
We do not provide user assistance for the use of the laptop. However, we would still like to be contacted if anything is wrong with the laptop, so we can eventually try to repair or fix it. To try to resolve any hardware problems during your visit, you may be able to resolve them by contacting 1-800-IBM-SERV. Since the laptop is considered a bonus feature, if you absolutely need to use a computer, please bring your own.
