Home office equipment is available if you need to do some work during your stay at the Park City Townhome. Instead of a formal office, there are multifunctional areas for work throughout the unit that are close to electric outlets, access to the main phone line, the second phone line for Internet/fax access and tables / chairs. This allows more than one person to do work at the same time or for a person to alternate areas; whether just for some diversity or to seek a more quiet area.
1. Broadband / High-Speed Internet Access.* If you need to Internet access, a High-Speed Broadband DSL connection is provided at no added cost. It is connected to a Wi-Fi Network (802.11 b/g) that also supports the use of most wireless computing devices anywhere in the unit.
2. Computer.* We do not guarantee its operation or provide computer support, however, the unit contains an IBM Thinkpad T-22 laptop computer. It includes an Intel Pentium III at 900Mhz, 256K RAM, 20GB hard drive, USB port, Ethernet, a CDRW/DVD drive and a 14.1-inch LCD. Please see more information about the T-22 and the docking station with 3.5" floppy. Software includes Windows 2000 Pro, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer...). It can be used with the HP All-in-One described below. This computer is normally perfect if you just need to access the Internet to send/recieve e-mail, surf the Web, or do some spreadsheet or word processing work. It is conveniently situated on the kitchen counter next to the All-in-One machine. This location is in the front corner of the unit, providing separation from the living / dining areas on the opposite side with good visibility of the hot tub, and provides a perfect mix of privacy and awareness to other activities on this level. The laptop battery only holds a short charge and it is therefore best to use it connected to the power outlet where it is located. Our laptop is supplied for use as a "bonus" and, as noted, it is not guaranteed to work. So, if you absolutedly must use a computer, please bring your own laptop.
3. An All-in-One Machine.* This Hewlett Packard, model HP v40:
faxes, copies, prints and scans using plain paper. It operates without a computer for faxing and copying. However, in order to connect to another laptop for printing or scanning, a USB connection, MS Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP operating system, and a minimum processor of 200 Mhz with at least 32MB RAM is required. 4. 2-Phone Lines, Phones in All Rooms and Paper/Pens. You can use the main line for phone calls and the second line to send/receive a fax or even access the Internet via a dial up connection. The second phone line can also be used for outgoing calls at the counter in the kitchen or in the master suite if the main line is used. The unit has a dual 5.8 GHz phone system with answering machine, multiple phones downstairs and a phone in each bedroom. This allows you to stay connected throughout the townhouse. A paper pad, pen and phone book should also be located near each phone.
5. Multiple Work Areas. The main work area is at the counter near the entrance next to the All-in-One machine. With high back chairs, this a good place to work and it is easy to see if a fax has been received upon entering the unit. It is also easy to work at the living room coffee table or dining area by using a long phone cord behind the couch for Internet access to a laptop computer. The answering machine, situated on an end table, is easy to access from either of these areas. The other place where both phone lines and outlets are easily accessible is upstairs in the master suite next to the table and chairs. The counter and dining areas, with three and six chairs, respectively, are also great areas to use for collaboration.
6. Answering Machine. The Uniden 5.8 GHz phone system has an answering machine. It has 3 mail boxes. The first box is for general messages; the other two can be used for more private messages that can pertain to business or personal affairs. Please be sure to erase any private content.
7. Ample & Convenient Electric Outlets. It is unnecessary to unplug another cord or use an extension cord to connect your laptop or charge your cellular phone. There are ample outlets conveniently located to each work area, and also within each bedroom.
