Unit 254 was completely "gutted" and renovated like new. Premium materials used in the remodeling included granite countertops in the kitchen and all vanities, slate in the entry and kitchen, maple cabinets throughout, solid fir doors and travertine bath floors. These features are frequently found in high quality homes, but are uncommon in rental properties. Also, the furnishings, decorations and attention to details provide this one-of-a kind property with an at home feeling that is unlike other condominiums or timeshares. This is why it is frequently referred to as a town"home" and really is a deluxe unit. Although the renovation was completed in 2000, we are constantly adding items to improve the unit. Further information on the the scope of this renovation is also available.
Compared to nearly any ski or golf condo, even those in the same Park Avenue complex, the layout of the Park City Townhome is very unique and much different than the original (Plan A) floor plan. (Please see Floor Plans and Changed Layout.)
The first floor configuration is large and open with the entrance and kitchen counter near the front (close to the private atrium & hot tub). The living and dining areas set to the back (with fireplace and patio directly on the golf/ski course). The gourmet kitchen, with an island containing a range, is a focal point situated in the front center of the main floor. In contrast, most other Park Avenue units have a dining area at the entrance next to a galley type kitchen with walls that chop up the ground floor into three rooms. Although other remodeled units in the complex have opened up their first floor too, none have reversed the dining and counter areas.
Further, the living room celings for many units in the complex are only about 8-ft. high because a loft bedroom was added in the living room ceiling area. However, the Park City Townhome has nearly 14-foot ceilings for the living and dining areas that accommodates a beautiful 12-foot silk ficus tree. The high ceilings in the Park City Townhome were possible because a loft was added in the upper portion of what was originally a 22-foot high living room ceiling - not the lower portion as the lofts in most other units. Also, this new loft bedroom is not semi-open with railings overlooking the living room, but is completely enclosed and and a true third bedroom with fabulous mountain views. It is quite unusual, but very functional, becuase it has split levels that provide extra privacy, even if someone using the sleeper sofa downstairs uses this bath. The entrance to the loft bedroom is off the second floor hall, but the beds are on a raised area up a stairway of several steps. This upper area measures about 15'x10' and includes a queen bed and dresser. It adjoins a closet/dresser area and an extra sleeping area, adding 4-feet in width to the room, for a second (twin) bed and TV that lies above the bath.
Since an additional bath was added between the original bath and the middle bedroom that looks over the private atrium, all three bedrooms in the unit have private baths. Only one other unit in the entire complex, has three bedrooms and three plus baths. Other major changes on the second floor were the complete makeover of all bedrooms including the redesign of the "lockout" bedroom into a master suite with a kitchenette and other features. In addition, the atrium was improved with a hot tub, redwood decking and landscaping. Only several units in the complex have hot tubs in their atriums. The total townhome living area increased about 300 sq. ft. from an orginal area of about 1,500 sq. ft., but including the outdoor atrium that adds over 200 sq. ft. of private space per level, the unit is equivalent to units over 2,000 sq. ft. in size.
